The relationship hadn’t been running long when the Main Contractor emailed the Subcontractor mid-way through their contract to state that payment terms were to be extended from 30 days to 60 days because they were waiting for their client to pay them, which was slow.
The family business employs many trades staff in the local area around their office who rely on a weekly income, so they were not in a position to absorb such renewed terms, especially at such short notice.
We engaged with the Main Contractor along with the Director of the Family business. We were able to secure the 30-day terms for the duration of the contract because of our knowledge of the Construction Contract 2013.
